| Author's Story
Stand By My Child was written in memory of Myles Joseph Swella. Myles body started to shut down after just two weeks of being on this earth. This song had been started before he was born and at that time it was to be for his baptism. After finding out about Myles complications the song was transformed into a healing song for those left behind. It was finished and sung on the day of his Celebration of Life service.
After only singing this song for two of my relatives who passed away I chose to sing it for worship service at a camp retreat. The response was overwhelming. After singing this song a woman, Mrs. Judy Kinchen, came up to me and shared her story about finally finding peace after the loss of her three children 20 years ago.
It was not until then did I realize that this song needed to be shared. I told my idea about sharing this song to Dianne, Myles' mother, who now travels through out Southern California giving her testimony to womens groups. We were not quite sure about how to get this project started. The next night Dianne happened to go to a Boys & Girls Club meeting and won a raffle, thus the seed money to get the project started.
We feel because of so many different signs and coincidences that God has His hand over this song. May it bring you comfort, hope and the realization that because of Jesus' death on the cross, and His resurrection from the dead, that God's promise of everlasting life is real.
For God so loved the world he gave his only son
that who so believes in him will not die
but have ever lasting life
John 3:16
